Working on this house has been an incredible experience, i have enjoyed every single step, starting from the first brick and ending on the last photo shot for AD.
Ricardo Labougle, the photographer, has done an impeccable job as usual. My favorites among them are the double-pager where you can see the pergola, two shot of the dinning room and the hall. In all of them there is either a grid or the beams on the roof, and they are all potent, they rightly portray what the house is about: fresh, simple, homey, ordered, well-thought…
The front page is a little homage to Japan, did you notice?
All the way at the back, on the table, there is an UKIYO-E which i bought in Tokio ,in one of my trips there seven years ago when we were doing the spanish embassy. I had to call my friend Pablo Carvajal today to ask him what the name was in japanese, I just couldn’t remember. We also used some apple tree branches from the patio, that were in full bloom, in a big reflecting glass vase… and the white and tomato fabric from the black lacquered chairs, is a pattern inspired by David Hicks, who in his turn was inspired by classical japanese patterns. At the AD headquarters they have emphasized this homage by adding the big red circle with which they feature their Kitchen’s special.
But don’t even think I’m done with it!, now i have to start the vegetable and rose garden, think about chikens… there you go, almost nothing… but I will let you know how I’m doing. I hope you enjoy the article as much as i did!!!

A few days ago i was in France, near Biarritz. I went with my friends Montse Cuesta (AD Spain´s Chief Editor) and Ricardo Labougle (Top Photographer). The purpose of our trip was to take the best picture of my farm for the front page of the next issue of AD Spain (may). I hope you´ll like it!
